Adoption Ideas

Teaching and Advising Ideas with EdTech Align

There are several ways to use EdTech Align for accreditation data reporting, teaching, and advising.

Idea #1 (for Administrators)

Longitudinal Data Tracking for Teacher Preparation Program Accreditation

Teacher preparation programs may need to collect data on their candidates’ perceptions of their edtech proficiencies as a metric for accreditation (e.g., CAEP) as they learn and progress through their programs. Teacher preparation programs can ask candidates to take the EdTech Align survey instrument through a premium account that tracks and aggregates all the institution’s candidates’ data at multiple points throughout their programs of study. Teacher preparation programs can then use this data for accreditation reporting on student learning and growth with edtech proficiencies.

Idea #2 (for Administrators)

Customize Professional Development Initiatives

School administrators can ask their teachers to take the EdTech Align survey instrument through a premium account that tracks and aggregates all their teachers’ data. Based on these aggregated data, school administrators can customize professional development sessions around their teachers’ areas for improvement in the domains of Creativity, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, Pedagogy, and Leadership.

Idea #3 (for Advisors)

Informed Academic Advising

Academic advisors can ask their advisees to take the EdTech Align survey instrument either through a premium account that tracks and aggregates all the institution’s students, or students can be asked to send their free report link back to their advisors. When advisors are registering students for courses, they can refer to the student’s EdTech Align profile (report) and provide suggestions/recommendations for elective courses students should take to work on their personal areas for improvement in the domains of Creativity, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, Pedagogy, and Leadership.

Idea #4 (for Instructors)

Forum Discussion

  1. Take the EdTech Align survey instrument and view the personalized report. Based on the resources (e.g., strategies and tips) provided on the report page, identify three strategies that you found to be interesting and explain why they might benefit you. Your initial post must be uploaded before 11:59 p.m. U.S. EST/EDT on the 5th day of this module.
  2. Review at least two of your classmates’ postings and reply to their threads. In your response, identify a commonality regarding your edtech proficiencies and experience or usage of EdTech Align. Both replies must be posted before 11:59 p.m. U.S. EST/EDT on the last day of this module.

Idea #5 (for Instructors)

EdTech Course KWL Infographic

Directions: Complete the EdTech Align survey instrument. Then, view your personalized report and create an infographic on your personal edtech proficiencies that integrates a KWL chart.

  • Know: Based on your EdTech Align results, what do you know/are comfortable with related to edtech integration?
  • Want to Know: Based on your EdTech Align results, what do you want to learn more about Creativity, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, Pedagogy, and Leadership?
  • Learned: At the end of your course, fill in what you learned about edtech throughout the course. Share your infographic with your instructor and classmates.

Idea #6 (for Instructors)

Pre/post Survey Reflection Video

Directions: Students will be instructed to take the EdTech Align survey instrument at the beginning (pre) and end (post) of their edtech course. At the end of the course, students will view and compare their personalized pre and post reports. Students will record a reflection video to explain what strategies outlined in their initial personalized report they focused on and how their edtech proficiencies have changed related to Creativity, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, Pedagogy, and Leadership.
